04/13-Hi, we are the new kitties at the rescue. We just got here and haven't even unpacked yet! The caretakers said it was important to have our pictures up so we would have a better chance at finding a permanent home. As soon as we are settled we will tell you a little more about ourselves. We have been tested for some diseases and vaccinated against a few but we have a lot more medical treatment ahead of us. EST DOB-10/15/10
08/14-I'm almost a year old but it feels like I've lived a lifetime. Once I had a real home with people but they moved and abandoned me so I had to live on the streets. Fortunately there was a man at the apartment complex that fed some of us homeless kitties. I liked him because when the other bigger kitties wouldn't let me get to the food he always made sure I got some. It's not easy living on the street. Not everybody looks kindly on a homeless kitty. I've had to dodge sticks and stones more than once and don't mention wandering dogs. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse I found out I was going to start a family. I asked the other kitties what to do and got some useful advice but now I would have to find food not only for me but my new family too. I thought about this for a long time before finding a solution. I would ask the kind man who always fed me if he could help with my family. One day when I knew something was happening I followed the man to his home. I guess he thought I was hungry because he invited me into his home and fed me. I was hungry and it felt good to have a meal but I was more concerned about starting my new family. I found a quiet corner and let nature take it's course. I hoped the man wouldn't throw us out like our original family did. It didn't take long for me to have six babies. I cleaned them and started feeding them while hoping for the best. When the man saw my family he freaked out but tried to make us comfortable. I was afraid we would be thrown out but he let us stay in the warm home. Before you could say "spay and neuter" one of my friends brought her new family to the window of this kind man. When she saw how I was being taken care of she decided it was worth a try so she moved her family to his window well. The man tried his best to provide shelter to her and her family but we could sense he didn't have this kind of experience. He spent the next three days on the telephone looking for homes for us but we could tell by the look on his face he wasn't meeting with a lot of success. Finally he told me he had a lead on somebody who might help us.
A few days later the man put me and my family in a carrier for a trip. He told us these people knew how to take care of us and we would be safe there. My babies grew and once they were old enough to eat on their own I was let out of the cage we lived in. I was happy about that since those babies had grown sharp teeth, if you know what I mean. As time went on they were adopted and now I am the only one left from our family. I still see my old friend from the apartment; she came with her family and is still here too. All her babies have been adopted too. Both of us are hoping for a real home like our babies got but the guardians here tell us that it might be a while because of kitten season.
